A Multan court has given the police four days to question the contractor accused of killing 15-year-old Waseem Abbas.
Tauqeer Nazir was brought before Judicial Magistrate Saadia Aslam on Tuesday. She approved a four-day physical remand.
As the suspect arrived at the court, a group of angry lawyers attacked him outside the courtroom. Police rescued him with difficulty and took him inside under tight security.
The murder case was registered on Monday. The FIR names Tauqeer Nazir and Amjad Ali under Sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The state is the complainant in the case, so there is no room for a private settlement.
Police say Amjad Ali is still missing. Raids are being carried out to arrest him. The car used in the incident has been taken into custody.
The FIR says the two men chased Waseem in a car and hit him on purpose. The boy struck a house gate and died of head injuries at the scene.
Waseem was an orphan from Muzaffargarh. He lived at an orphanage in Multan, which had sent him to the contractor just six days earlier to learn electrical work.
Police say CCTV footage of the chase is part of the investigation. Early checks found no proof of the theft the suspect had blamed on the boy.
