Aston Villa host Manchester City at Villa Park today, Saturday, with kick-off at 4:30 PM Pakistan time (12:30 PM UK time). It is one of the toughest tests of City’s perfect season so far.
City sit top of the Premier League with seven wins from seven matches. Enzo Maresca’s side have 21 points and are 12 goals clear on goal difference. A win today would make it eight wins from eight.
But Villa Park has not been kind to City. The champions have not won there since 2021. Villa are in form too. Unai Emery’s side are unbeaten in their last seven matches in all competitions and have won their last three, including a 1-0 league win at Newcastle and a 3-1 Champions League win over Viking FK.
Villa sit 12th in the table with eight points from seven games. They are still waiting for their first home league win of the season, with one draw and two defeats at Villa Park so far.
Team news: Villa are without Amadou Onana, Matteo Ruggeri and Aaron Wan-Bissaka through injury. Midfielder Johan Manzambi faces a late fitness test. For City, Antoine Semenyo is out for around eight weeks with a knee injury, while Nico O’Reilly, Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes are doubts. Erling Haaland is fit and available after scoring twice against Ipswich last weekend.
The match will be shown live on Sky Sports in the UK and on USA Network in the United States. Read more of our sports coverage.
