TSMC has reported a record profit for the third quarter of 2026. Net profit rose 69 percent to 763.1 billion Taiwan dollars, about 23.6 billion US dollars. The result beat market forecasts.

TSMC is the world’s largest maker of chips for other companies. Almost every major AI firm depends on its factories. When AI spending rises, TSMC is usually one of the first companies to feel the benefit.

The world’s largest contract chipmaker benefits from soaring demand for AI processors. Its customers include Nvidia and Apple. AI chips now drive much of the company’s growth. Data centres around the world are racing to buy more computing power, and TSMC’s advanced factories are running at full speed to keep up with orders.

Strong sales continue

The company also reported record revenue earlier this month. September revenue rose 54.6 percent from a year ago. Revenue for the first nine months of 2026 is up 41 percent.

TSMC shares have hit record highs this month. Investors are excited about AI demand and possible new projects, including talks about a role in Elon Musk’s planned Terafab chip complex in Texas.

What it means

TSMC makes the chips that power AI data centres around the world. Its strong results are seen as proof that the AI boom is still going strong. The company guides for continued growth in the final quarter.

Some investors remain cautious. They worry about how much of the AI spending is funded by debt. But for now, the chipmaker’s order books look full.
