Security forces killed five suspected terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Washuk district. The military’s media wing, ISPR, shared the details in an official statement. The operation was carried out on the night of 12-13 October, 2026, following reports of the presence of terrorists in the area.

According to the statement, troops moved in after careful planning and surrounded the suspected hideout. The exchange that followed ended with five suspects killed, the military said. No casualties among the security personnel were reported in the statement.

What Was Found

During the operation, security forces busted a terrorist hideout, according to the statement. A large cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives was recovered from the site. Officials said the recovered material could have been used in attacks on security forces and civilians in the region.

Sanitisation operations are underway to clear the surrounding area of any other suspects. The military said such clearance operations would continue until the area is fully secured. Local residents have been asked to report any suspicious movement to the authorities.

Wider Campaign

The military said the action was part of the Azm-e-Istehkam vision, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan. Under this plan, security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue operations at full pace to eliminate terrorism from the country.

Pakistan has seen a sharp rise in militant attacks this year, particularly in KP and Balochistan. An Islamabad-based think tank recorded 225 militant attacks across the country in September, the highest monthly number in 12 years. Officials have urged Afghanistan to stop militant groups from using its soil.
