PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to invite the PTI for fresh talks. Speaking in the National Assembly on October 14, he said he would personally ask the prime minister to end the emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Bilawal blamed the PTI for the circumstances that led to the emergency. He described the party’s actions as a political attack on its own provincial government. He said the emergency measures were taken under the Constitution.

Call for dialogue

The PPP chairman said terrorism had become an existential threat to Pakistan. He said the nation must unite against the menace. He added that his party had always supported solving political issues through dialogue.

Bilawal urged the PTI to abandon confrontation and return to parliament. He said the party should attend committee meetings and engage with other parties. He hoped talks would lead to an end to the long march. He said dialogue was the only way to solve political disputes.

Earlier outreach

On October 2, Bilawal welcomed the government’s decision to hold talks with the opposition. He said he hoped the talks would end the long march unconditionally. He added that the PPP accepted the idea of political engagement.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Bilawal on October 15 to discuss KP security. Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar defended the emergency measures in the house. He cited rising terrorism and the need for better coordination. He said the government wanted peace through constitutional means. The PPP says it will keep pushing for a political solution.
