Sahibzada Farhan’s Rise: Pakistan’s New T20 Captain Shines

Sahibzada Farhan is the new face of Pakistan’s T20 team. The opener was handed the captaincy earlier this month. He replaced Salman Ali Agha, who was dropped from the T20 squad.

The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed the change on October 5. Officials said the move was part of a fresh plan for the shortest format. Agha remains part of the ODI setup.

A Breakthrough Year

Farhan led Pakistan to a silver medal at the Asian Games. He then finished as the leading run-scorer at the T20 World Cup in March. He scored 383 runs at a strike rate of 160.

His form has carried into the home series against Sri Lanka. He struck 89 off 53 balls in the first T20I. He followed it with 76 off 47 in the third match.

Calm Start as Captain

Under his leadership, Pakistan won the series 2-1. He was named Player of the Series for his batting. Team officials praised his calm style on the field.

The new captain has a busy home season ahead. Pakistan play 12 men’s internationals between October and November. Fans will hope this bright start turns into lasting success.

His batting style is built on timing rather than brute force. He plays clean shots through the covers and pulls with control. Bowlers have found it hard to tie him down in the powerplay overs.

Fans have warmed to the new captain quickly. Crowds in Rawalpindi backed him loudly during the Sri Lanka series. If his batting stays strong, the captaincy could be the start of a long run at the top.
