Chancellor John Healey delivers the UK Autumn Budget on Wednesday 28 October at about 12:30pm UK time, which is 17:30 PKT. Here is what to watch when he stands up after Prime Minister’s Questions.

First, how he pays for new measures. Reports say Healey is expected to fund a cost-of-living and winter-fuel package through higher taxes or spending cuts, not extra borrowing, so that the Budget scores positively in 2029/30. The Treasury has so far only spoken of fiscal discipline. These measures are reported, not confirmed.

Second, fuel duty. Reports say the planned fuel-duty rises of 3p in January and 2p in March may be dropped. Drivers will be watching for a clear answer.

Third, the revenue plan already reported. Sunday’s preview covered the Chancellor ruling out a capital gains tax rise, with a tax raid on banks expected to be the biggest revenue raiser: UK Autumn Budget 2026: Healey Rules Out Capital Gains Tax Rise as Bank Tax Raid Tops Revenue Plans.

This is a watch-list only. The confirmed measures, and what they mean, will be covered in full after Wednesday’s speech.
