Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched the PM Youth Chromebook Scheme on October 25, 2026, in Islamabad. Under the scheme, 500,000 Chromebooks will be given to students over two years. This is the Prime Minister’s scheme, not a Punjab-only programme, although students from Punjab form the largest group.
The scheme is for top-performing students of government and public schools only. Private school students are not eligible. In Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, only top-performing Grade 9 students (SSC-I) from the 2026 annual exams can apply. In Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, top-performing students of both Grade 9 and Grade 10 can apply.
There is no single nationwide marks cutoff. Each education board sends its own list of top performers to the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC), and each board sets its own merit criteria. The Prime Minister also confirmed that seminary students are eligible for the scheme.
How to apply
Students can apply only through the official IBCC portal. Apply for the PM Youth Chromebook Scheme on the official IBCC portal.
The steps are simple. First, select your education board on the portal. Then enter your CNIC or B-Form number, roll number or registration number, along with your date of birth, and click Find My Record. The portal will show your details from your board’s list. Check your name, school and marks carefully. Then upload your documents and submit the form. Save your reference number and download your application slip.
Documents needed
Four documents are needed, and each file must be 300 KB or smaller. You need a recent colour photograph, your SSC-I or SSC-II mark sheet, an attested copy of your CNIC or B-Form, and an attested copy of your father or guardian’s CNIC.
Students can apply only once, and the form cannot be edited after submission. Wrong information can cancel your allocation. If your record is not found on the portal, contact your school or education board.
Important warnings
No last date has been announced yet, and applying is completely free. No one from the scheme will ask you for money, a processing fee or your bank details. Anyone who does is running a scam. Only use the official portal, and never share your personal data on look-alike or unofficial websites.
The scheme also includes bags and MiFi internet devices to help students in remote areas learn online. After the merit lists are finalised, devices will be couriered to the verified home addresses of selected students.
